Artist Information

Amatorski

It goes without saying that the Belgian band Amatorski is unique in its kind. Combining an enormous versatility with a consistent and captivating sound is their trademark. In 2010 the Belgian audience fell in love with their debut EP 'Same Stars We Shared', including the radio hit 'Come Home'. A year later, the Benelux release of their atmospheric album 'tbc' exceeded already high expectations. In 2013 Amatorski was signed to Crammed Discs for a worldwide release of the 'tbc'/'Same Stars We Shared' combo. The band toured extensively, from Germany to France, from Spain to the UK, from Switzerland to Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. In the meantime they created soundtracks for television and for a Dutch movie, and their acclaimed interactive multimedia project 'Deleting Borders' explored crossovers between music, internet and video art. In 2014 they released their second full album ‘From Clay to Figures’ and wrote the title track to BBC show ‘The Missing’. Album III is in the making with single Hear Me released spring 2016.

Yndi Halda

Yndi Halda (pronounced YIN-dee hal-DAR and stylised "yndi halda" in lower case) is a post-rock band from Canterbury, England. 'Yndi Halda' is Old Norse for "Enjoy Eternal Bliss", also the name of their self-titled debut. The band's music is characterized by expansive, cinematic pieces that have seen them compared to post rock and modern classical genres.

C Duncan

Glasgow’s C Duncan, born 1989, is the son of two classical musicians. Surrounded by music throughout his childhood, Christopher initially took up piano and viola. His teens led him to school bands – learning to play guitar, bass and drums – but did little to quell his fascination with the composition and performance of classical music. He eventually enrolled in Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) to study music composition, where his pieces were performed by various ensembles across the UK.
To hear C Duncan’s music now is to grasp those two common threads between his interests in classical and modern music. The pieces that make up his forthcoming debut LP are formed from lush choral harmonies and acoustic instrumentation, textured like contemporary dreampop and all recorded at home in Glasgow on his bedroom studio setup, gradually built up one layer and one instrument at a time. The results of this methodical and isolationist recording process give us charming lo-fi folk with the harmonic width of choral composition, the sweetness of barbershop and the rough eloquence that has so readily soundtracked Glasgow over the past decades.
Christopher is also an accomplished painter, naming Grant Wood and Gerhard Richter as influences. His work has been exhibited throughout Scotland and he provides cover art for his own records, expressing the same musical ideas through painted image.

Xul Zolar

Xul Zolar are a trio from Cologne.
Xul Zolar founding members Ronald Rottel and Marin Geier met in Cologne’s infamous Club Scheiße (Club Shit) back in 2011. They bonded over a mutual love of The Smiths and Talking Heads and decided to start writing songs together.

The trio was completed by drummer Dennis Hofmann and subsequently Xul Zolar were invited to play c/o Pop Festival, Immergut Festival, Appletree Garden Festival, Reeperbahn and Dockville before they had released any music at all. While all three members have previously played in punk and hardcore bands, Xul Zolar play melancholic pop music with just a touch of post punk.

Thus far Xul Zolar have released a pair of DIY 7’’ singles, both of which sold out. ILAJALY, the first official from the Tides EP, was revealed last year. The remainder of the EP was finished earlier in 2015 and produced by Jochen Naaf (Polarkreils 18, Maxim) and Sven Ludwig (OK Kid) and is set for release 16th October via their own imprint and Jakarta Records sub label ASAMRA Records.

Phoria

'....super-smart and endearingly pieced together from a breathtaking blend of whisper-like vocals and euphoric electronics .' - NME

'If this track is anything to go by, Phoria's upcoming EP, Display, is set to be one of the defining releases of the year.' - Indie Shuffle

'Even as “Emanate” makes its ascent into a huge, warm wall of synth melody, this remains a deeply felt and achingly human composition.' - The Line Of Best Fit

'If a conventional pop song was disassembled to its absolute, minute parts, jumbled up and given a new space, it might sound like this.' - Fake DIY

Brighton five piece alternative, electronic band Phoria return this spring with their second official EP release. The ‘Display’ EP is due for release via X Novo Records in June.

The Lauren Laverne endorsed lead track 'Emanate' raced to No.6 in the Hypem Chart and received over 100,000 plays in its first week and over 120,000 views on Youtube.
